You Are Invited to Mystic Seaport's 66th Annual Dyer Dhow Derby

The Dyer Dhow Derby is an annual regatta held in honor of the yacht clubs, sailing associations, and individuals who have donated to or supported the Dyer Dhow fleet of more than 50 Dyers at Mystic Seaport. Gowrie Group, Mystic Seaport's insurance partner, is the presenting sponsor of this year's 66th Dyer Dhow Derby.

Come enjoy a fun day of racing Dyer Dhows at the Mystic Seaport on Saturday October 17th.  Bring a team and come race. The Overall Winner is based on a team's combined score in their best three divisions.  Prizes are awarded to the Overall Winning Team, winners of each Division, and to the teams with the Best Decorated Boat and Most Team Spirit.  All races will be held on the Mystic River across from the dock at the north end of the Mystic Seaport Museum grounds.  

Boats. Boats are provided by the Mystic Seaport. If your organization has a donated Dyer Dhow at Mystic Seaport you can sail that boat.  If not, you will be given a boat to sail. Schedule for Saturday October 17th:

11:00am: Registration and rigging at Mystic Seaport's Youth Training Building  

12-Noon: Skippers Meeting and sailing of Dyers to north end dock

12:30-3:30pm: Races in each division: Juniors, Men's, Women's, Double's, Quarter-Ton

4:30pm: Cocktails, refreshments, and trophies

Division races will be held in this order.

Juniors = 14 years and under 

Men's = 15 years and over

Women's = 15 years and over

Double's = 2 people (at least one must be an adult)

Quarter-Ton = minimum of 500 lbs per boat  

The racing is fun and family oriented! Feel free to bring along a small child in any race/division.

Race Committee.  The races will be run by the 2014 Overall winning team, the Eddie Maxwell Family.
